A
Letter from the President
A Happy Summer to all. I hope
you are enjoying it.
Once again it is time for our
annual ‘All You Can Eat Shrimp Dinner’ fund raiser. Our fund raisers
are used to make donations to different individuals and organizations
which contribute to our Irish culture. Without fund raisers, the Irish
Club would not have been able to sponsor the Irish Traditions performance
at the PAC. Invite your family and friends and come out and join in the
fun. Get your Irish up and help promote and support our culture.
Your President,
MIKE
Cead Mile Failte!
(hundred-thousand welcomes) to our
new
friends and members

IRISH PERSON OF THE MONTH - JULY
Brett Rehorn is the recipient of the Irish Person of the Month for July. Brett is the Owner of Kilkenny’s Irish Pub and Eatery. Kilkenny’s projects the atmosphere of the pubs in Ireland with its fine foods and Irish beers and whiskey. Kilkenny’s is a great place to meet other Irish friends and you might even catch some good Irish music. Thank you, Brett, for being part of the Irish culture in our community.
IRISH PERSON OF THE MONTH - AUGUST
John
Ahern
is the recipient of the Irish Person of the Month for August. Many people
helped put together the Irish Traditions performance but John was the
driving force. He did most of the coordination; scheduled meetings and
wrote the original script. The Irish Traditions show would not have
occurred without John’s leadership. Congratulations to John for this
great effort.

the shore)
His new e-mail

(Does anyone know the translation for “padraighog?)
A note from
fellow Club member, Pat Harkin. ‘Check out www.census.nationalarchives.ie.
It allows you to see the original Irish census forms filled out during the
1901 and 1911 census. I was able to find both sets of my
great-grandparents' census forms, complete with signature of head of
household. Pretty much all a person needs is exact spelling of name
and county. It was really nice to see the names of my grandparents,
great-grandparents and all of my dad's aunts and uncles. Thought it
would be of interest to club members.’
The
2010 Oklahoma State Championships and Feis
will be held at the Meridian Convention Center in Oklahoma City September
17 and 18. The Irish American Club of Tulsa is proud to donate money for
trophies and advertisement in the program.
